About SvW

Stephan van Wyk is a multifaceted artist and creative with a zest for life. He’s not just a Communication Designer, Photographer, and all-around creative guy – he’s the brains behind Rokkitboy Creative Labs, a vibrant design studio tucked away in the enchanting haven of Plettenberg Bay.

Stephan’s heart beats to the rhythm of visual storytelling. He graduated with top honours in 2006 with a B-Tech degree in Communication Design from Tshwane University of Technology. In the same year, he embarked on a nine-month escapade to Germany, representing his University as an exchange student at the Fachhochschule Trier. That adventure was a game-changer, shaping his artistic outlook in many ways.

Stephan’s canvas of choice? Life itself, as seen through the lens of his camera. He loves to capture human stories, emotions, and those moments that take your breath away. He firmly believes that beauty is everywhere around us; we just need to pause and appreciate it. Stephan is an artistic explorer, constantly pushing the boundaries of his creativity through various styles and techniques. Yet, his heart truly belongs to capturing the essence of landscapes and nature through photography. From wildlife to architectural wonders and sweeping aerial vistas, he’s always chasing the perfect shot. Not only in his capacity as a commercial events and portrait photographer but also in everyday moments of life.

In 2018, Stephan won Bronze at the Afrisam/ZeitzMOCCA photographic competition. Notably, three other works were also shortlisted as finalist pieces for the competition and formed part of the “ConCreativity” group exhibition at the Zeitz MOCAA Museum of Contemporary African Art in Cape Town, from October 27, 2018, to February 28, 2019. Adding to his accolades, Stephan also won first prize in the Landscape DSLR photography category at the Annual SANParks Photography competition in 2018.
